What to do and what to plant in April 2025

Hi Gardening and Wellness Friends 👋🏼

Gardening in April in Florida-spring is in full effect. The oak trees have completed their blooming and pollen spread. Any rain we have received has washed away the yellow tint the oak pollen left. The temperature will become more consistently warm this month before the heat of summer sustains. This month begins the reduced planting list. Many things don’t thrive in the summer heat. Planting these plants now will ensure growth before the heat sets in.

What should I do now?

  • weed and remove any winter plants from your garden beds

  • test your irrigation system and ensure it’s functioning properly

  • amend the soil if you’re planting heavy feeders such as tomatoes, peppers, corn, squash

  • add a layer of compost to your beds if planting new plants

  • pickup your organic plant starts from The Organic Harvest

  • plant a combination of vegetables, herbs and flowers

If any of this feels overwhelming or you’re under a time crunch, then click on Schedule Appointment on the Home page and I’ll be ready to support you. I have limited virtual availability in April.

If you’re wanting to take your gardening experience one step further, I’ve created a composting guide-Composting Made Easy. Click on this link
