Flowers blooming in the garden

Hi Gardening and Wellness Friends 👋🏼

If you followed my suggestion of planting herbs and flowers in your flower beds this spring, then your garden should be in full bloom. Planting flowers in the garden attracts pollinators to produce a higher vegetable yield, help with pest control and of course provide beauty in your beds.

If you’ll continue growing through our harsh summer weather, now is a good time to plant another round of flowers. Zinnia’s, sunflowers and celosia do extremely well with the Florida summer heat. They’re able to thrive in the 90 degrees plus temperatures and do well just being watered with our daily afternoon showers. An aesthetic challenge one may face through the summer is the presence of rust and powdery mildew. Both are fungal diseases prevalent during the high humidity, high temperature days of summer. Personally, I don’t spray anything on the plants. Those who want to keep the plants free of disease could use a product linked called Max Neem. It’s certified for organic gardening, and it’s applied every week to prevent the fungal diseases.

I hope this season you cut a few flowers to enjoy indoors. Send me photos via email tina@healingrootsgardens.com or social media through Facebook Instagram of your flowers. I’d love to admire your hard work.

Until next time…..

🌿To our health and the health of our gardens🌿
