What to do and what to plant in November 2025

Hi Gardening and Wellness Friends 👋🏼

We began the Winter Gardening Cohort this week. We’re getting all of the beds prepped and ready for planting. It’s a fun month getting to plant my favorite crop….potatoes. I love growing potatoes. More accurately I love harvesting the potatoes. It feels like Christmas to me. Rather than digging through the dirt with a pitchfork, I prefer digging around for these round presents with my hands. If by chance you miss this months planting of potatoes, we can plant them again in January for Central Florida.

If you ordered garlic, onions or strawberries they should have been delivered the end of October, possibly the beginning of this month. It’s important once they’re received, we get them in the ground as quickly as possible to ensure proper root development and growth this season.

Here’s what to do in our winter gardens now:

  • weed and remove any leftover plants from the garden beds that have completed their fruiting cycle

  • test the irrigation system and ensure it’s functioning properly. we’ll be entering our dry season, and we’ll need to use more consistent irrigation the next few months

  • amend the soil if planting heavy feeders such as onions, garlic, strawberries or broccoli

  • add a 1” to 2” layer of compost to the beds for the new growing season

  • order organic plant starts from The Organic Harvest

  • replant a new set of flowers for the winter garden. the best this time of year are marigolds, pentas and salvias

  • add new herbs to the beds-all herbs thrive in the cooler weather that’s coming

  • monitor any pest/insect pressure. handpick any pests and dunk into a soapy bucket of water, or any of these organic products can be utilized. as this month progresses, pest will begin slowing down and we’ll have less pressure

  • transplant and seed the winter garden

Keep a look out on social media. I’ll be posting many more tips and tricks for our winter gardens. If you have other questions, message through social media or email. I’m happy to support your garden and your body.

Until next time…..

🌿To our health and the health of our gardens🌿
