Hi Gardening and Wellness Friends 👋🏼
Here’s what can be planted in November
It’s been a while since my last monthly email. Life got busy, my plate overflowed and I had to pause a few things. The monthly gardening update being one of them.
With the holiday’s just around the corner, I’m grateful to be back. I’ll continue sending one email a month with a reminder of what can be planted and what maintenance can be done in the garden for central Florida. If you’re wanting north or south Florida, I post on Facebook each month what can be planted in those areas.
One of the other things I had to pause was the blog. I would post weekly different recipes, challenges in the garden, ways to create a diy garden, and many other topics. I never want to overload the email box, so emails are not sent out for the blog. But, it’s another resource you can access here Healing Roots Gardens Blog. When I send the monthly email I’ll be including a recipe. This will give ideas on how to use the abundance that we’re harvesting in the garden at the moment.
A couple more updates and then I’ll get into our monthly garden maintenance.
I’m offering electronic gift cards on the website. This will allow anyone to buy friends and family certificates they can use to purchase the seasonal gardening cohort, a neuromuscular testing, a wellness evaluation, a garden consult or any of the resources and services on the website. The gift cards can be accessed here Healing Roots Gardens e Gift Cards.
Last update, we begin the Florida Winter Gardening Cohort next week. Starting these cohorts has been one of my greatest joys outside of being in the garden. Getting the opportunity to mentor gardeners who have all different experiences but have the same goal has been a gift to be a part of. With the holiday’s it gets busy and the gardens take a back seat this time of year. Gratefully, I’ve set up systems for the gardeners so there is very little hands on needs this season once the beds have been prepped and planted. A quick check once a week for pests and to ensure irrigation is working properly. There will be smooth sailing until it’s time to harvest…..unless we get an early frost, then there will be a little more physical labor involved to protect the garden. Register at this link Florida Winter Gardening Cohort until Tuesday November 3rd with this discount code WINTER26 to receive 10% off of the 13 week cohort. I hope to see you in the cohort.
If you planted your fall garden at the beginning of August like we did in the Fall Cohort, you’re harvesting or will be harvesting in the next weeks pumpkins and winter squash. In celebration of the upcoming holidays, here’s my favorite Thanksgiving dessert recipe- Pumpkin Cheesecake.
If you’ll be looking for a small break and a little peace before the holidays, retreat to the garden and these maintenance tips can be completed:
weed and remove any leftover plants from the garden beds that have completed their fruiting cycle
test the irrigation system and ensure it’s functioning properly. we’re on our way to the dry season, and we’ll need to use more consistent irrigation in the next few months
amend the soil if planting heavy feeders such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower (tomatoes, peppers and eggplants if you have plants left from Fall OR if you’re in S. FL)
order organic plant starts from The Organic Harvest
replant a new set of flowers for the winter garden. the best this time of year are pansies, petunias, violas, alyssum and calendula
add new herbs to the beds-all herbs thrive in the cooler weather
monitor any pest/insect pressure. pressure will begin reducing when the weather cools
plant and seed any empty garden spaces
It’s a season to give generously and selflessly to family and friends, but I pray this holiday season you find pockets of time to nourish and spoil yourself. You are deserving and worthy of it.
If you have questions, message through social media or email. I’m happy to support our gardens and our bodies.
Until next time…..
🌿To our health and the health of our gardens🌿
Tina
