What to do and what to plant in July 2025
Hi Gardening and Wellness Friends 👋🏼
I hope you are staying cool and hydrated in your gardens. Gardening in July is a challenge. The everyday rains invite rust and powdery mildew to thrive this time of year. Add in the fact that your garden is a full-on buffet for all of the garden critters, there may be more damage than you anticipated this season. Here are organic products to help combat the fungus, rust and/or garden pests. Use them early in the morning at sun rise or late in the evening as the sun is setting. This will ensure the beneficial insects aren’t harmed.
If choosing to garden this summer, here’s what can be done :
weed and remove any leftover spring plants from your garden beds that have completed their fruiting cycle
test the irrigation system and ensure it’s functioning properly. If we are getting consistent afternoon rain showers 3 to 4 days a week, then change the setting on the system to water every 3rd day.
amend the soil if planting a heavy feeder such as luffa
add a layer of compost to the beds if planting new plants
pickup organic plant starts from The Organic Harvest
replant a new set of flowers so they’ll be blooms throughout summer. the best flowers this time of year are sunflower, zinnia and celosia
monitor any pest/insect pressure. Handpick any pests and dunk into a soapy bucket of water, or any of these organic products can be utilized
If this season has discouraged you, don’t fret. I want you to succeed. Not only succeed, I want you to thrive in your fall garden.
